Theme : REWORKED: Give It Another Life
Deconstruct it. Rework it. Reinvent it.
Fashion is constantly evolving and the future of the industry demands designers who can think creatively about what already exists.
For this live challenge, competitors will be asked to upcycle and transform an existing garment or textile item into a new signature fashion piece.
Your starting piece might be simple, unwanted or outdated. Your challenge is to completely rethink it.
Time Allowed:
4hrs
You must bring:
- Your own sewing machine and/or construction equipment
- Basic sewing and textile tools
- Any additional fabrics, trims, fastenings or embellishments you wish to incorporate
- Any specialist equipment required for your chosen techniques
Pre-construction of the final design is not permitted.
Competition Objective:
Create one wearable fashion piece by transforming an existing garment or textile item through upcycling techniques. A selection of garments will be provided on the day.
Competitors should demonstrate their ability to take something existing and gi ve it a new identity, purpose or aesthetic.
Your final piece could explore:
- Deconstruction and reconstruction
- Creative cutting and shaping
- Layering and textile manipulation
- Embellishment and surface design
- Combining contrasting fabrics or garments
- Visible construction and exposed detailing
- Repurposing unexpected materials
- Creative styling and finishing
There is no set aesthetic. Your work can be minimal, experimental, streetwear, couture-inspired, conceptual or commercial.
We want to see your creative identity.
Your final piece:
By the end of the three hours, you should present:
One completed wearable upcycled fashion piece
Your work should demonstrate a clear transformation from its original form and show thoughtful consideration of:
Design • Construction • Creativity • Sustainability • Finish
Competitors will also give a short explanation of their concept and transformation to the judging panel.

We’re not looking for the most expensive materials or the most complicated garment. We’re looking for creative thinking, resourcefulness and transformation. Take something overlooked and show us what it could become.
